The reigate rocking chair and matching footstool by William Plunkett.
Designed in 1963 and awarded Council of Industrial Design Award in 1968, the Reigate rocking chair became synonymous with Plunkett’s elegant and sculptural approach to furniture design.
The design is an exercise in the reduction of mass and material, minimising the structure to its absolute least presence other than an outline.
The chair and footstool have both undergone full restoration.
Fresh powder coating, new webbing and foam with a modern boucle cover and of course the aluminium has been polished.
