This journey started back in the year 2000 while on a random trip to a car boot sale with a friend who is in the vintage clothes trade.I always had an interest in antiques but never thought it could would be my life.
My interest would grow-from listing unusual and unrelated items on ebay to selling bigger pieces at antique fairs. It was talking to other dealers at these fairs that I was able to research and discover the kind of furniture i wanted to specialise in.
Danish mid century furniture became my first serious passion. I drove around Denmark stopping at every antique dealer to see and learn more about this period. My love for this area has continued and I still sell pieces on my other website "orange and brown". In the past 5 years I have become interested in older quirkier pieces.
We have a small shop in a central but quiet Bristol area just out from the main library and college green. We try to keep the shop decorated in a light, minimal style with a clean aesthetic and not too cluttered. It’s always good to check which items are in the shop before travel, we can easily get stuff in from our local storage space. Since opening a shop our business has flourished."Modern Antiques" offers a variety of 18th and 19th century classics. We also have more unusual items and decorative pieces.
My 20 year old journey is ongoing and I learn something new most days.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
